hi, just wondered if anyone has any experience of taking kids (aged 7 and 9) on a Royal Caribbean trip?
weve already prebooked for next year but was wondering what facilities were like, how busy it might be or any problems etc..
any help appreciated..

Re: Kids on board - Royal Caribbean
The childrens facitlities on board the royal ships are fantastic. You can feel at ease to leave the child on board while you are off the ship. The staff are all highly trained and will do there best to keep your child happy. Just remember a little tip for the people looking after your children goes a long way as well.

Re: Kids on board - Royal Caribbean
Hi Christine, we took our two, age five and seven, on a RCI Med cruise last summer and made a bit of a mistake choosing to travel outside school UK holidays. We thought we were being clever avoiding the crowds, but actually all we did was avoid any English-speaking children being on board! This was tough for our two as they had problems communicating with the mostly non-English speaking children on board and ended up not wanting to go to the kids club at all.
Facilities-wise, however, it was great and the opportunity to leave the children on board in the kids club while we did a morning excursion was excellent.

Re: Kids on board - Royal Caribbean
Well, I've never sailed RCI with kids. only with my partner (my son has 'food issues' which make holidays self catering or nothing!) but from my experience I'd say it depends a bit when you're going. If it's during the school holidays you are going to find it is VERY busy and there will be lots of kids. There's a plus to this - you probably won't see them when the chum up with new friends, and the activities are pretty well non-stop and well organised, so they should be happily occupied for most of the trip.
In fact there isn't really any downside for you, as they are close enough in age to be in the same group - problems usually arise when one is eight and one is two or they are eight and fourteen, and they are in different clubs which means different activities at different drop off and pick up times. You will see some parents who just seem to spend all their time running around delivering their kids to different activities, but you should be fine. Let us know how it goes!
