Could someone please tell me what sort of locks one should put on one's luggage flying into U.S Airports(e.g. Miami)? we understand they should have some special lock?

Re: Luggage Security

Absolutely you should, this is becoming an increasing issue as few Brits seem to know about it and luggage is being held back as a result. You need cases fitted with TSA-approved locks (those that the Transportation Security Administration has the tools to open) or a TSA-approved padlock or luggage strap. Here's what they say on their own site: T'SA screens every passenger's baggage before it is placed on an airplane. While our technology allows us to electronically screen bags, there are times when we need to physically inspect a piece of luggage. TSA has worked with several companies to develop locks that can be opened by security officers using universal "master" keys so that the locks may not have to be cut. These locks are available at airports and travel stores nationwide. The packaging on the locks indicates whether they can be opened by TSA.' And you can find out more and order locks online at www.tsa.gov.
