what cruise to go on with a 7month baby

cruise reporter

Hi, I have just become the proud dad of our new baby Amelia Mae, and I have just about recovered from the sleepless nights, been thinking what we should do for this years first family holiday. I have checked out Center Parcs, but don't really want to pay £2000 for stay in a wooden cabin, in a damp forest. First question is it a good idea to take a baby on a cruise? Will I get funny looks from other passengers if she screams her head off! and what's the best cruise brand to go with. I fancy about 10 days and we have a budget of £2500 for 3 of us, do any company's offer free kids places. cheers Tom

Re: what cruise to go on with a 7month baby

If you aim for a cruise where there isn't too much night-life you should do fine. She's very young to be left with a ship sitter, and most people seem to suggest that such tiny babies would probably benefit from having a grandparent or extended family member sit them rather than a 'stranger', but that's a matter of personal preference. Some lines won't accept such a small baby, so you need to check if they will have her on board at all and if they will offer any facilities once she's there (some Kid's Clubs are only open to toilet trained tots). Remember to take your own buggy and nappies and powdered milk if she's on it - ship buggies can be less than perfect and nappies and milk are horrendously expensive and sometimes get sold out! Holland America and RCI both have great reputations for the under ones, but the cruise line that always scores highest for babies is, of course, Disney!
