Cruise companies seem to be putting customers first as they should, but has anyone had a really really bad cruise that they want to share what happened. Please don't hold back, dying to hear the stories
Cheers T

Re: Has anyone got any cruise from HELL stories to share
The worst cruise I have ever been on was last January 2009 to the med on board Norwegian Jade for three weeks. A friend and had really been looking forward to this cruise and arriving in Barcelona with no bother our luggage had disappeared. We were not the only ones as there were lots of people on our flight with no luggage. After waiting in the queue for an hour to give our details we were no further forward in finding where our luggage was. We had to leave the airport to board the ship hoping our luggage would be located and delivered before we left. Unfortunately this was not the case Norwegian cruise personnel were of little help and only offered us a t shirt to change and the use of laundry service which would have been a bit of help if we had more than one outfit to change into. We were too embarrased to go to the dining room for our meals in the evening as we had to wear the same things over and over. We eventually got half of our luggage 10 days later in Malta. This was a relieve but our holiday had been spoiled big time. The rest of our luggage had been delivered back to my home in Scotland and if it had'nt been for my neighbour taking it in I do not know where it would have ended up. This was our first cruise to the Med flying out from Heathrow as we usually go to the Caribbean and try to get flights from Scotland and it will definately be my last unless things change and we go from Southhampton.I have been on about ten cruises so far and have never had any bother.

Re: Has anyone got any cruise from HELL stories to share
titanic minus the iceberg
new zealand cruise july 2008 sailing auckland to south pacific, captain knew of bad weather BEFORE leaving, cruise was not cancelled was due to leave at 4pm left after 1am
was not a freak wave or one instance of bad weather as reported, a twenty degree list is huge, amazing no one was killed
was one of many passengers badly injured, children screaming people tossed like rags, panic
the first port of call was entirely skipped, the mystery island stop the captain announced would need to leave BEFORE dark as to do so afterwards was not safe, and guess what the ship sailed AFTER DARK
there were serious injuries which were downplayed, broken bones, finger tip cut off, back neck injuries, passengers bleeding, it was not one freak wave but a choice that the captain made during the night, did not warn the passengers he was about to do a change of course, it was chaos, the captain was sent back to Wales after the "incident", of course this was part of the rotation, more to the story that what was reported
upon return to New Zealand passengers were left to fend for themselves, especially those who still had to journey overseas, the cruise line had a similar experience the year before

Re: Has anyone got any cruise from HELL stories to share
A cruise on the MS Ecstasy out of Jamaica where 20 people got off in next port, half of crew throwing up, and most people did not leave their cabins. I was a social host on the ship and standing doing an activity and was diagnol to ground.
I write about this cruise in my new cruise memoir Permanent Passenger: My Life on a Cruise Ship, a great book to bring on a cruise. Go to www.permanentpassenger.com or on Amazon
See www.michathemouth.com for reviews
Cheers and beers

Re: Has anyone got any cruise from HELL stories to share
A few years ago now my husband and I were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and went on Fred Olsens Black Prince. To say it is the death ship is being polite. We booked it as it was advertised as having a pontoon from which you could do water skiing and various other water sports. Once onboard of course staff told us that it had not been used for over 5 years and said just look at the age of the cruisers.
We had to make a detour at one point to Malta as someone had a heart attack, whilst being nosy and watching the unfortunate casualty being off loaded another elderly lady slipped and broke her hip, but did not tell anyone till we were an hour outside of Malta. So once this was discovered we had to turn around and go back to Malta to off load another casualty.
Most nights we were in bed by 10 as the entertainment was war songs or a scottish harmonica player with a ginger wig. The entertainment was repeated for the 3 weeks we were on board. Having said that I am not saying that I am ageist we met some lovely people, but variety would have been nice. The swimming pool which was heated broke the first week and was not repaired so 2 weeks of freezing water or no swimming at all.
We also experienced the most snobbery on this cruise, as we had been previously on CTCs Southern Cross and Airtours Sundream (which was great fun). When we of course got the "have you cruised before question" we were answered with "well some people like might like that sort of thing".
Cruising to us if Fun, Dressing up (as most of us do not have the chance to wear lovely clothes all day)
Seeing amazing places, meeting new people, and eating lovely food and most of all enjoying ourselves, perhaps Fred Olsen should take note.
