What a travel agent can do for you

Reservations - Especially around big holidays, or in unusual locations, it can be difficult to get a good hotel where you want it – and there are real advantages to getting your agent to help. There are, for example, hotels that a nine miles from Southampton, but which, because of their location, allow you to get from hotel to port in ten minutes – quicker, in fact than people in hotels only half a mile from the dock – I know because my agent introduced me to one and I’ve stayed there the night before a cruise ever since – this kind of tip is only available from somebody with years of experience.

Emergencies Happen – Nearly all travel agents offer a free, worldwide emergency reservation system that protects their passengers against airline cancellations – something we’ve seen a lot of recently. This service can also help in the event of illness, security threats, thefts, etc – in fact if anything goes wrong during your trip, your agent can rescue you, and your holiday.

Tips and Wrinkles – Agents get to travel to new destinations and to explore old destinations in a new way – they can tell you, for example, that Finland costs half what Iceland does if you choose to stay over in a hotel after a cruise, and has an even better chance of displaying the Northern Lights – these kind of tips can really make your holiday complete, and save you a fortune too.
