Princess Cruises has issued a press statement confirming that 14 crewmembers on the Emerald Princess tested positive for the H1N1 virus, known as swine flu. Princess Cruises says that no passengers aboard the 25th June Baltic cruise had been infected.
The 14 crewmembers have been put in isolation and are being given anti-viral medication by the ship's medical team. They won’t go back on duty until they have been cleared of any contagion. Recently several cruise companies confirmed cases of H1N1 on-board, some ports have barred infected ships from docking or quarantined them. The port authorities in Aruba put a Spanish-based Pullmantur ship in quarantine after several crew members tested positive for H1N1.
