On Thursday the keel laying ceremony for the new Queen Elizabeth, commissioned by Cunard, was held. She’s being built at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy and will be the second largest Cunard ship ever. Keel laying is the process of setting the first section of a ship’s hull and while it’s a key step, the completed Queen Elizabeth won’t take to the seas until December this year, when she will undergo sea trials before being delivered to Cunard.
