Boudicca has some fantastic itineraries that more than make up for her age. The one I picked visited my favourite area: the Norwegian/Arctic coast, and offered some places I’d not been able to visit on other cruises such as: Molde, Andalsnes, Honningsvag, Longyearbyen, the Liljefjord, and the Magdalenefjord,
Before you book onto Boudicca, it’s worth remembering she dates from the 1970s and to a certain extent shows her age, as do her passengers who tend to be fit and active but in their sixties and seventies, not bright young things. Didn’t worry me, but I point it out because it affects the entertainment which can be a bit staid.
Sailing from Leith is brilliant, you are on board in about fifteen minutes! Food is good, nicely presented and the service was uniformly fast and good. As I say, the evening entertainment is mainly around ballroom dancing, gentle comedy and some kind of cabaret along with piano music in the lounges. Great value for money and a brilliant cruise if you like scenery and wildlife, rather than wild evenings.
