I'd been to Iceland before, so I knew roughly what to expect, but two things to be aware of if you're a first time visitor: 1 - Iceland is expensive! (£2 for a cup of coffee is an average price, not a top end one!) 2 - Iceland's water is not something a lot of us find drinkable - carry your own bottled water on excursions as even the tea and coffee can taste very faintly of old eggs. But if you love scenery Iceland is a wonderful destination and sailing from Newcastle is fast and hassle free. Thomson Celebration is a nice sized ship, somewhat noisy though, and the new Aldo Zilli restaurant must be great as we could never get a reservation! Food is good, although on most nights the 24 hour buffet at the Lido actually becomes just a hot cupboard full of pizza and pasta, not a full range of foods and nothing much for vegetarians at all. We found the entertainment variable - some good musicians and some not so good. Staff friendly and energetic if not entirely efficient at all times (wine arriving via room service without corkscrew!) and generally a great value for money cruise.
