Crystal Cruise Line is owned by the NYK Line of Japan and was established in 1990. It’s more or less always been a two ship fleet
Starting with Crystal Harmony and Crystal Symphony, then the 1,080 passenger Crystal Serenity joined the line in 2003, but by 2005 Crystal Harmony had left. This very small cruise line, with somewhat larger than usual ships, has an unusual approach in that it has the luxury, service-oriented style of the smaller cruise lines and the scale of the larger ones. This is due to two major efforts the line makes, the first to maintain a very high passenger to staff ration and the second to constant innovation in the offerings its guests can enjoy. The blend obviously works, as Crystal Cruise Line is credited with having one of the most loyal and largest repeat passenger groups in the world. The process of repeat cruising with this line is so commonplace it’s called ‘Crystallisation’. And the thing that those returning passengers comment on, again and again, is the superb guest service that this line offers.
Crystal Serenity
Crystal Serenity is the line’s largest cruise vessel and has wonderful signature features such as the sushi bar, and a boardroom with wine cellar – catering in Silk Road is overseen by Nobu Matsuhisa, the famous ‘fusion’ chef.
