Hurtigruten
Hurtigruten (meaning "fast route" in Norwegian) are nothing like any other cruise ship you’ll ever travel on
To begin with, many of them are cargo vessels as well as passenger-carrying liners, and that means that planned stops aren’t necessarily made on the cruise line basis of being great holiday destinations, but are just as likely to be planned because the ship is offloading supplies to an island community!
The ships are also remarkably casual: you will find no dress-up nights or midnight buffets, theme evenings or even dinner wear rules. There is also little or no entertainment, and dining is good, but not luxurious. On all vessels except the Greenland routes you’ll find a 24-hour cafe, but it’s not free and throughout the line you’ll find alcohol prices are high, although you can bring your own booze to drink in your cabin. Hurtigruten's fleet has fifteen vessels which fit into five classes:
Hurtigruten Ships
MS Disko II
Built in 1992 in Denmark and in service under the name "Saqqit Ittuk", MS Disko II was converted to an expedition vessel in 2004.

MS Finnmarken
The interior of MS Finnmarken is decorated by 11 well known Norwegian artists in the art nouveau style reminiscent of the first D/S Finnmarken, which was introduced on this route in 1912.

Built in 1964 the MS Lofoten is the only traditional ship still in operation on the Norwegian Coastal voyage during wintertime.
