After a failed start in 1975, the line relaunched in 1995. Thomson’s purpose is to shift cruise holidays from a niche market to the mainstream of British tourism. While there is no doubt it has aging ships, usually leased from other lines, there are several elements bring an increasing number of Britons to cruise holiday for the first time, such as brand recognition, the high street travel agencies across the UK and, of course attractive fares.
