The Seabourn Cruise Line was founded in 1987 and has found its niche in the competitive ultra-luxury cruise market
Carnival Corporation purchased the company in 1999 but Seabourn operates independently from other Carnival Corp. brands. Looking ahead, Seabourn is moving away from its small vessel luxury cruise experience by opting for two new ships, each of which will accommodate 450 passengers. Seabourn is notable for its open-seating dining: you get seated by the restaurant staff, and always get a chance to join at least one crew-hosted table where you will be introduced to your fellow diners, and conversation will be facilitated by the ship’s officer hosting you. Also quite exceptional is the open bar which, apart from vintage wines and spirits, means you pay nothing for your table wine, soft drinks or hot drinks, and, of course, the famous No Tipping Policy.
